Jessica Boone

Jessica began her winemaking career at Edgewood Estate in St. Helena. From 2003 to
2010, she was the Winemaker at Armida Winery, where she continued to focus on
vineyard designate wines. After a brief hiatus to start a family, Jessica became the
Winemaker at Passalacqua Winery in Healdsburg, California. Since 2012, she has
extensively developed their single-vineyard Zinfandel and Cabernet program.

Jessica’s winemaking style reflects her love of wild foods. Jessica creates wines that
express the unique character of the vineyards she sources from. By making balanced
wines, Jessica intends to complement the nuances in wild game.
In describing her winemaking approach, Jessica says:

I believe in making balanced wines. I believe in letting the vineyard shine through
a minimalist approach. I believe in precise attention to detail. Perhaps most
importantly, I believe in, and desire, a hands-on approach to winemaking, and I
am proud to be a self-proclaimed ‘cellar rat’. In my opinion, the only way to make
wine is by getting my hands dirty (or purple). Wine is dynamic and ever evolving,
and the best way for me to react and help guide it in the right direction is to be in
the cellar witnessing, smelling, and tasting, those changes.

Among other outdoor activities, Jessica enjoys foraging mushrooms and hunting (mainly
upland game and waterfowl), appreciating the deeper connection to the outdoors that
these pursuits bring. Dedicated to knowing the source of her food, Jessica is an avid
cook who enjoys pairing food and wine.
