LIVE! Oklahoma Deer Hunting Culinary Camp: January 2027
For many people, hunting ends with a photo and a trip to the processor. We think that’s where the real education begins.
At Harvesting Nature, we’ve always believed that harvesting wild game is about far more than pulling a trigger. It’s about understanding the responsibility that comes with taking an animal’s life, honoring that harvest by using every cut well, and developing the skills to feed yourself and those around you. We spent the last few years refining our Texas Wild Pig Hunting Skill Camp and decided to branch out to a new species. Our new Oklahoma Deer Hunting Culinary Camp is an immersive four-day experience designed to teach hunters every step of the field-to-table process.
Camp Dates: January 7–10, 2027
Location: Near Allen, Oklahoma (approximately 2.5 hours from DFW Airport)

More Than a Hunt
Our camp isn’t a guided trophy hunt or a weekend where someone else does all the work. Instead, you’ll actively participate in every stage of harvesting a whitetail deer. Whether you’re completely new to hunting or you’ve spent years in the woods, you’ll leave with practical skills you can apply for the rest of your life.
Throughout the weekend you’ll learn to:
- Build confidence behind the rifle with professional instruction.
- Hunt whitetail does ethically and responsibly.
- Field dress and butcher your own deer.
- Package meat for your freezer.
- Cook exceptional meals from a variety of venison cuts.
By the end of camp, you’ll understand not just how to harvest a deer, but how to make the most of every pound of meat.
Experience Authentic Oklahoma Hunting
The camp is hosted at Oklahoma Trophy Ranch, just outside Allen, Oklahoma, about 2.5 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. You’ll enjoy comfortable lodging, outstanding meals prepared by professional chefs, and access to experienced instructors who are passionate about teaching. Every aspect of the weekend is designed to maximize learning while providing a genuine Oklahoma hunting experience.
From the Range to the Kitchen
Before heading into the field, participants spend time on the shooting range with experienced instructors, ensuring everyone is comfortable, safe, and confident with their rifle. Once the hunt is complete, the learning continues. Our butchery instructors guide participants through breaking down their own deer into practical cuts while discussing meat care, aging, packaging, and freezer storage. Rather than simply taking meat home, you’ll understand why each cut is handled differently and how to maximize both quality and yield. Evenings are spent in the kitchen, where food remains the central focus. Our professional chefs demonstrate techniques for preparing different venison cuts while participants cook alongside them. You’ll leave with recipes, cooking methods, and a deeper appreciation for wild game that extends well beyond backstrap and burgers.

Who Is This Camp For?
One of the questions we hear most often is:
“I’ve never hunted before. Is this camp for me?”
Absolutely. It is really for all skill levels and ages. Whether this is your first season or your fiftieth, our instructors tailor the experience to your skill level. New hunters receive the guidance they need to build confidence, while experienced hunters often discover new butchery techniques, cooking methods, and ways to better use every part of an animal.
Families and groups are also welcome. If someone in your party wants to experience camp without hunting, we offer discounted non-hunter participation so they can still enjoy the educational and culinary portions of the weekend.
