Ingredients

  • 2 medium walleye filets

  • ¾ cups Flour

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • ¾ cups Bread crumbs

  • ½ cup frying oil such as vegetable, canola, avocado, etc.

  • Approximately 6 medium Russet potatoes

  • ⅔ cups of Milk

  • 4 tbs Butter

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

  • 6 oz Cheese curds

  • 1 cup Brown Gravy

Preparation

  • Peel potatoes and cut them into even sized chunks. Add potatoes to an empty pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil until a fork pierces through easily.
  • While the potatoes are cooking, rinse and dry the fish filets.
  • Make the mashed potatoes by draining water from the pot. Then add in milk, butter, salt and pepper while mashing the potatoes.
  • Dredge the fish filets in flour, followed by an egg wash, and then coat in bread crumbs.
  • Heat your frying oil in a pan until it begins to ripple and add the coated fish filets to the pan cooking each side until golden brown.
  • To plate: spread the mashed potatoes first, followed by the cheese curds. Top the curds with one walleye filet, and top everything off with a coating of brown gravy.
