Havarti Stuffed Venison Burgers

These Pennsylvania white-tail patties get stuffed with creamy Havarti cheese for the ultimate ooey-gooey cheesy burger!

These burgers can be baked, pan-seared, or grilled – whichever way you prefer. Simply cook on one side until the patty has formed a rich brown crust, then flip and cook until the center is cooked to your liking.

  • For the Burgers
  • 1.5 lbs ground venison

  • ½ cup bread crumbs

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 tsp Harvesting Nature’s Big Game Blend

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 slices Havarti Cheese

  • 4 burger buns

  • For the Toppings
  • Tomato

  • Lettuce

  • Red Onion

  • Mayo

  • Mustard

  • Relish


  • Mix all the burger ingredients (except for the buns) in a large mixing bowl
  • Press or form the meat into 8 thin patties
  • Divide a cheese slice into four pieces
  • Place the four pieces on top of one patty
  • Place another patty on top of the cheese and press the sides together or use the Weston burger press to seal the cheese inside the meat
  • Repeat with the other 3 burgers
  • Grill, bake, or pan-sear until the meat is cooked to your liking and the cheese has melted in the interior
  • Serve with the suggested toppings, or use your favorite condiments

    Are you using any type of fat to grind in with the venison? It sounds like from the recipe that you are mixing the cheese in with the ground meat, bread crumbs and egg? And then adding cheese slices again after making the patties? Thank you!!
