Yes, it is August. Despite the pandemic, zoom meetings and home schooling children, Summer is on its way out. Which means you are behind the eight ball, and if you haven’t secured your gear, tags, time-off and honed your skills then you are at a critical red line.
Now is our time to reclaim spirit of self. Long days on the job site? Suck it up and get to the range. Long hours in board meetings? Shake it off, shut it out, and center that pin.

It is not profit margin that satisfies the soul, nor endless days of solving other people’s problems that speak to our dreams, it is early mornings, still woods, and the thrill of the unknown.
It’s about fair chase, growth, self discovery and grinding it out to attain a reward that money and privilege can’t buy or earn. That is why we toil all year, to pull two weeks out of 52 to live and breathe in the arena of nature. Karmic fuel to sustain us through the rest of the year.

Hunting season is a magical time, a fluid state requiring a different set of skills than the normal 9 to 5. Success is not always measured in skulls or inches, rather experiences and knowledge gained. Family, friends, solitude and the primal need for adventure, to acquire food not just for the body, but the soul as well.
This is what hunting season means to me and I know I am not alone. So if you needed a reminder to zero your rifles, perfect your form and secure your gear, consider yourself put on notice.
